MacKid Review: Body Back with Fit4Mom Severn

At the end of last year, I made a decision that I needed to get in shape if I was going to be able to keep up with my boys this summer.  I have three wild, rowdy, and FAST boys. I've never been athletic, in shape, skinny or fit. I started working out in December, and I thought I was really pushing myself.

I had heard of Stroller Strides, but I really didn't know that Fit4Mom Severn offered other programs.  When I discovered Body Back-I thought, 'well, this could be a good idea!' The description reads, 'Body Back® is a results-based workout designed specifically for moms to focus on themselves. Full 8 week session enrollment includes before & after assessments, 2 classes per week, Mama Wants Her Body Back DVD's and Food Journals.'

I know that for me to succeed, I need accountability-yes, there was someone checking my food journal, and there were a group of women waiting for me when I showed up on Tuesday and Thursday evenings-but they weren't just my work-out buddies-they were my cheerleaders!  They were the ones telling me I had five more reps in me when I didn't think I could do one more-and celebrating with me when I did!  They were my teammates, my partners, pushing me to do and be more-and cheering me on the whole way.

These ladies are amazing.  The strength and determination in this group...I literally think it could move a mountain. I mean, have you seen their viral video of #swingburpees?!!

Each workout is different-a different type, tabata, rounds, team challenge, but each one ends with stretching and a mediation.  But the whole time you're working, pushing yourself, sweating, (even sometimes dying)-there's a dozen other women encouraging you, pushing you, cheering you on!  And at the end you're laying there on the ground-the ground you just pounded through an incredible work out on, looking up at that huge sky-and you feel STRONG. You know that you just rocked a work-out. That you just beat whatever number you hit on burpees in the last round, you did one more sit up, you did one more push up-you did one new exercise that you looked at and thought 'there's no way in hell I can do that'...except you did. And you rocked it.  That's how I felt every single time I left Body Back. Empowered-empowered to take on the world, empowered to make changes in my life, empowered to chase my boys around the playground and not even be out of breath.

I lost 11lbs and 7.5 inches doing this round of the Body Back program with Fit4Mom Severn-but what I gained was SO much more.  During the last meditation of the session, I found myself literally brought to tears as Krissy told us about the symbol of a butterfly representing the transformation in Body Back.  About us being strong warriors-and I realized that although I had the goal to lose weight-somewhere along the way, it became much more about strength than the scale. During the initial fitness assessment, I did one push up.  After 8 weeks, I did FOURTEEN push ups-and not the kind on my knees! Real push ups!  Initially, I held a plank for two minutes (which is something I never thought I could do) but after the 8 weeks, I held a plank for three minutes and two seconds. THREE MINUTES!!  Before Body Back, I couldn't run a mile without walking for most of it-now I'm running at least 3 miles a few times a week-and running all of it!

I took a picture of my bicep last week-wanna know why?  Because for the first time in my life-I have a bicep!

Not only have I gained physical strength, but I've gained confidence. I love working out now-it's a stress relief for me-but I also just enjoy it.  That's something I've never in my life said before.  A couple of months ago, while I was working out in the garage, my oldest son walked in with my niece and said, 'look how strong my mom is!' That was an amazing feeling-and I want him to always think I'm strong-and I truly want to be strong.

If you want to be a strong mom too-I highly encourage you to check out Fit4Mom's programs-they are all fantastic.  I have a special place in my heart for Body Back-seriously, it's the best thing I've ever done for myself.

It's hard to do things for you when you're a mom-try this-I promise, you won't regret it!  Join me and come to their Body Back Preview Class 80's Night on June 30th!  I hope to see you there with your legwarmers and crimped hair!
