There’s nothing Pasadena artist, Katie Detrich can’t do! She’s an artist creating beautiful paintings and murals on all types of canvases. Furniture, walls of local businesses, faces of exciting children, glassware-you name it, I’m willing to be she’s painted on it! My own MacKid has had his face painted by her no less than five times this summer-she is the best of the best.
Katie has created a professional life in the arts by embracing all of her talents and keeping an open mind to new possibilities, believing art should be entertaining! With that motto in mind, she began hosting children's theme parties, with her business Welcome to Neverland, that include fascinating balloon sculptures and imaginative face painting. No surprise, Katie can create almost anything with balloons as well!
Her love for children joined with her enthusiasm for storytelling and drawing inspired her to become a children's book author and illustrator. Katie is now taking ‘Princess or President’ on tour throughout the Anne Arundel County Library-you can find details on her next Story Time at a local library here.
Teaching creative arts to children and adults has become her mission; Believing that we are all born artists! As an Optical Artist, she chooses to paint on canvas using bright colors that capture the eye and contain symbolism. You may have enjoyed some of Katie's wall murals created in local businesses!
Katie absolutely loves what she does and has a unique way of working with people by making them feel at ease, and helping them to get into a creative mood. Her newest venture Painting the Town with LA Signature Events even includes some Paint the Town Kids editions where children not only get to paint, they enjoy story time, face painting and more!
In addition, Katie gives back to the community whenever she can. Whether it’s volunteering her talents at the Chesapeake Children’s Museum, pitching in at benefit events, or visiting sick children in the hospital-Katie enjoys seeing the smiles on the faces of children everywhere. Katie is also a mother of two-who homeschools her little girls ages five and six-she is definitely supermom!
