Recently I had the privilege of visiting the Organic Facial Experience Medical Day Spa. It's a wonderful little gem in the heart of Glen Burnie!
I'm all about ANYTHING organic, so from first hearing the name, I was ready to jump right in to know more. Owner Towanda Moses first talked about how she MAKES her own line of skin care products using essential oils. I was hooked and couldn't wait to try them.
I returned for a facial and to take home Organic Facial Experience's signature at-home skincare products, "Facial in a Box."

2) Skin Care Products Are High Quality & Made In-House
The awesome factor is in the stratosphere here! Towanda makes her own skin creams, lotions and serums with organic ingredients at the spa. I absolutely love that most of the ingredients are familiar and you can pronounce them all. The list of ingredients isn't a mile long either.
The Facial in Box is seriously some of the best skin care products I've ever used.

I had not used bars of soap on my face in years, but ones from Organic Facial Experience are not even in the same league. These bars of soap feel light and refreshing -- it's easy to tell they are not made with a bunch of chemicals or unknown ingredients.
The serums are also light and make my skin feel oh-so-soft-and-supple. And the moisturizer is the queen of the box! The moisturizer is silky and creamy and has the most delightful scent. It only takes a pea-size dab to cover my entire face and neck. At this rate, I'll probably still be using cream from this container a year from now!

Towanda looked at my face and knew immediately which facial would be best for me. During the facial she used products she had made to address specifically what my face needed.
One of my favorite parts of the facial was the red light. I had never had that therapy done before during a facial. Because I have rosacea, a type of inflammation, Towanda advised that the red light helps reduce inflammation. Sure enough after the 45 minute facial, the redness has diminished significantly. I almost didn't even recognize myself in the bathroom mirror right after.

4) Educational
Before, during and after my facial, Towanda spent a lot of time educating me in the nicest possible way about the type of skin I have and what my skin care routine should look like.
For example, I learned my morning moisturizer needs to have an SPF in it all year round (as I thought it was only in the warmer months). She advised that an SPF not only helps with the effects of sunlight exposure, it also helps reduce lines and wrinkles.
5) Small Mom-Owned Business
One of the greatest joys of being publisher of Macaroni KID is supporting other small businesses in our community. From getting to know Towanda, I can attest that she is one of the hardest working and devoted mom entrepreneurs I have met.
Towanda visualized her dream one day to have her own day spa and set it in motion. As with most new ventures, there were some setbacks, but she did not let them deter her, and she pushed forward to eventually own the beautiful and thriving spa that it is today!
Towanda has a medical background and is also a certified esthetician and skin care specialist, combinations that ensure clients receive top-notch quality services.
