VIP Experience at The Modell Performing Arts Center at The Lyric

By Holly Christy July 21, 2017

Over the weekend, some friends and I went to see a show at The Modell Performing Arts Center at The Lyric. As you know, Mom’s Night Out is an all-too-rare treat, so we’d been looking forward to it for a long time! We’d been trying to make plans about carpooling and parking, who would drive, where we’d eat, and all those types of logistical necessities. Then we got an email from The Lyric’s in-house catering company, Ashling Catering, inviting us to upgrade to the VIP ticket for an appetizer spread, wine tasting, and open bar before the show. We were sold!

Country girl that I am, I dread city driving and parking. By upgrading to the VIP ticket, we were saved the hassle of finding a decent restaurant, finding parking, worrying about getting over to The Lyric in time for the show, and then parking again. It also eliminated the question about who would be the designated driver – since we didn’t have to drive anywhere after we ate, we could all enjoy a drink before the show!

Speaking of the drinks, Ashling Catering coordinated a fun wine tasting during the hour-and-a-half VIP experience. My friends and I all ended up liking different wines the best, but really enjoyed trying them all and learning about the differences from the knowledgeable bartender. Katy liked one of them so much that she bought a bottle the next day. She said, not only were the wines delicious but that she really enjoyed feeling “special” in the VIP section!

Nicole’s favorite part about the VIP upgrade was the tasty and abundant food. Ashling Catering puts out different spreads for different occasions, but the other night we were pleased to see an array of cheese, crackers, fruit, dips, charcuterie, crudités, and cute little puff pastry snacks and egg rolls. It was easy to fill our bellies before the show, and between the food and the drinks, we definitely got our money’s worth. The $40 VIP upgrade fee is certainly less expensive than if we’d paid to park elsewhere and then bought dinner and drinks.

The next time you go see a show at The Lyric, inquire about the VIP experience! Not only was it an easy and affordable way to fill up, but it was fun and festive and a great way to start our Mom’s Night Out!
