Bring On Daylight Savings: I Have a Secret Weapon

#GetYourHourBack

This week marks Daylights Savings Time-the hours with sunlight will get longer, and summer is just around the corner.  As much as I'm excited about the longer days and the warmer weather-along with many parents, I dread the shift of DST.  It seems like just when I've gotten the bedtime/waketime routine mastered, the time changes happens and we all get out of whack.  It's not just about the adjustment in my childrens' routine-it's the disruption of my routine too. But this year is different: bring it on, DST-I've got a secret weapon!

This last week, I've had the chance to try Natrol Melatonin 5mg and it just might be my new best friend!  After just one night, I felt more rested-and got a report from my husband that I was definitely 'sawing logs'!  Natrol is fast dissolving and the strawberry flavor tastes great-no water needed!  For those who may have trouble swallowing pills or vitamins-taking Natrol is a breeze.

Using melatonin can help you establish a regular sleep routine!  Some other things that help me stay on track with my sleep are:

Exercise: I always sleep better when I get my workout in.  Even when I'm tired, I feel so much better after I've burned some energy-and the same applies for my kids.  When there's a rainy day-I try to have a dance party or do movement play to get the wiggles out for all of us!

Limiting caffeine: This is a big one for me-I know that if I have caffeine after noon each day, I'll have a hard time keeping to my sleep routine.  This one is particularly hard for me on days I workout because I always hit that afternoon slump.  I've made a switch to herbal tea in the afternoon.  Peppermint usually gives me a little burst of energy to get through the rest of the day while refreshing me too!

Turning off the Screens: I struggle with this one, not gonna lie about it.  Our nightly routine lately has involved snuggling for TV with my hubby while surfing on my iPad. I usually finish up with a little bit of liesure reading before drifting off to sleep.  For me, it's about clearing my mind and forgetting the things that are circling in my brain until I'm too tired to do anything but fall asleep-but I know that avoiding screens about an hour before bed will give me a more restful sleep.

Skipping my wine: Yup, I said it...SKIP the wine.  Wait, what?  As much as I hate to admit it, I know that I get a better night sleep when I skip the wine or any nitecap.

I know I'm much better equipt to tackle whatever comes my way when I've had a restful sleep. Kids skipping nap? No problem! Kids puking everywhere? No Problem!  I've got it all covered because I've had a great night sleep thanks to Natrol.
