And the Winner Is....Announcing our 2018 Rockstar Mama

By Katy Agro Myers, Publisher Mom, Macaroni Kid Pasadena-Severna Park September 27, 2018

We were so honored to spend last Sunday with ten finalists from our Rockstar Mama Nominees. These AMAZING moms were treated to pampering with hair and makeup done by Rumors Salon & Spa, a fashion styling by Courtney Madeline Boutique, and a super fun photoshoot from Imagery by Anastasia-not to mention they each went home with over $200 in swag from our sponsors! I was personally honored to spend the day with these moms-I am in awe of each of them. Being a mom is so hard-and I hope that each an every one of you enjoyed the day! #mackid #mkrockstarmama #annearundelcounty #strongmoms

YOU spoke and we heard you!  Jessica C! You are our 2018 Rockstar Mama!  Wanna learn more about Jessica? See her nomination here:

My daughter, Jessica C, has taught me things I thought I already knew as an experienced mother... courage, patience, and resilience. My grandson was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 2, and my granddaughter was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma shortly after Camden's diagnosis. Over the year of Kennady's tango with cancer my daughter not only fought for my granddaughter’s life but for her own life as well. We're talking countless nights of no sleep, and tears at Johns Hopkins Hospital, while she held her sick 2-year-old child convincing her little girl that everything would be okay even though Jessica wasn't sure herself. How she took care of an ill daughter and still managed to give all her love and support to Camden goes beyond words. She made sure that Camden was still going to school, therapies, etc, so he could thrive and excel in life while she felt hers stopped. Each day I grew amazed as my daughter made decisions for my granddaughter’s sake despite the side effects and horrible outcomes of treatment. She filled Kennady's room with art, healing crystals, and stuffed animals even though Kennady was in a coma. She knew Kennady was there and she held onto that even after her death. Kennady lost her fight in February 2018 surrounded by people who loved her. Before Kennady said goodbye, we all rallied into her hospital room as Jessica stood up and told us "everything is going to be okay" as she smiled through her tear-filled eyes. Jessica encouraged us to sing Trolls songs, show tunes, laugh, and talk about our greatest moments with our sweet girl. Then Kennady Rose's final hour came. Jessica went above and beyond for her daughter’s sake even in her days overflowing with sorrow. She made sure Kennady had a celebration of color and life instead of a funeral. She made sure Kennady's urn was glowing with pink and gold accents with a tall gold rose as the center which perfectly embodies our little warrior. During this tragic event she never lost sight of her son Camden even as a bereaved parent. This nomination goes above and beyond words of gratefulness and it means the world to me to have written this letter in my daughter and granddaughters honor.

Jessica will prizes from our sponsors including: three hours of organizing from Movin'Brooms, a gift certificate from Pic N Paint Pottery, FREE spray tan from SNM Tanning for the mom and a friend, One Month Le-Vel Thrive Experience, three month membership to Transformations Fitness for Women, gift certificate to Courtney Madeline Boutique, gifts from Surely Southern with Sarah, and MORE!

Thanks again to our major sponsors for this event:
