Weekly Publisher's Note - Happy Birthday, America!

Who Is Ready For A Parade?

By Laura McElwain Colquhoun, Publisher, Macaroni Kid Pasadena-Severna Park-Glen Burnie July 2, 2021

Welcome to the 4th of July holiday weekend!

Like me, do you feel that this holiday weekend feels even more special this year since firework displays were mostly cancelled last year?  My family and I are looking forward to celebrating Independence Day with our hundreds of our closest neighbors!  We are teaming up with Darla from Macaroni Kid Annapolis and her family to be in both the parade in Annapolis on Saturday morning and the parade in Severna Park on Monday morning.  Be sure to wave and say hello to us!  (And to let you in on a little secret--we've got some fun treats we will be handing out for y'all along the parade routes!)

We've compiled a list of great 4th of July events here in Anne Arundel County.  There are also other fun family events this weekend, such as license-free fishing day on July 4, the Earleigh Heights carnival from now until and July 10, and the Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Department Open House on July 3.

However you celebrate, have a wonderful and safe time!

All my best,

Laura

PS - In the cover photo, Quinten shows his patriotism in front of the Mount Washington Auto Road American Flag Sculpture in New Hampshire.  It is believed to be the first wooden American flag sculpture of its kind.  The wood was collected on Mount Washington.
