Dun-Pikin Farm has been certified as a Horse Discovery Center by the Maryland Horse Industry Board. They are 1 of 35 centers that were certified in the state of Maryland, and 1 of only 2 in Anne Arundel County. Being a Horse Discovery Center means they were inspected and found to be a friendly, safe, and knowledgeable, place to learn about and participate in horse related activities.
The Discovery Centers will have their official kick off in the spring when most people are beginning to think about getting back outside. Unlike other sports though, (and riding is a sport) horses can't just be put in the closet to wait for warmer weather to come. Horses have to be cared for 7 days a week, 365 days a year, no matter what the weather. There are plenty of days in the winter that are great for riding. Even if ground conditions aren't good for riding, there are still horse activities going on all winter long.
Dun-Pikin would like to get a jump on spring. Dun-Pikin will be offering 4 Basic Horsemanship Sessions. These sessions will introduce those interested in becoming involved with horses to basic horsemanship skills. Beginning in February every Saturday from 10:30 am until noon we will be learning and practicing basic horse skills.

All sessions will be unmounted but all 4 sessions will involve lots of hands on time with the horses. All sessions will be held rain or shine. Pre-registration is required.

These Basic Horsemanship Sessions are best suited for ages 8 and up.
No horse experience is necessary. All participants will be required to sign a liability release.
