The end of summer usually brings with it some bouts of sadness for me, as it is my favorite season. However, I have learned by living in Anne Arundel County that there is never a shortage of weekend fall festivals to enjoy with my family, and helps ease my pain of bidding farewell to shorts weather! And I always seem to have more on the calendar than we actually can attend, but it is great to have so many choices. So, with my husband and son who both prefer these cooler temperatures, our family has enjoyed some the area's family fun fall festivals, and we look forward to this year's impressive offerings! Here are my picks for favorite Fall Festivals in Anne Arundel County.
Saturday, October 6
Fall Festival at Wesley Grove United Methodist Church
This annual event has something for all ages and features yummy food, music and vendors to support. Their Kids Korner has lots fun for the kids, including pumpkin painting, popcorn, snowballs, and everyone child's favorite: a face in a hole with which to pose for a picture. It seems like they had my four-year-old in mind when planning their food choices and activities!
Saturday, October 13
Jacobsville Elementary PTA Fall Festival
Once again Jacobsville Elementary PTA is hosting a fall festival with free admission. Activities include face painting, games, scarecrow making, along with vendors, food and raffles. We are happy to be able to support both a local school PTA and have fun together at the same time!
Saturday, October 13
Kinder Farm Park Fall Festival
Friends of Kinder Farm Park put on this great free annual event. It is also so popular that lines can be very long getting into the park. One year we actually drove on when saw how long the non-moving line was.
In addition to seeing the animals at the park, there are many activities for kids of all ages, from hayrides to pumpkin painting. We plan to get there early, and I am excited to see my son enjoy the animals along with fun fall activities to choose from!
Sunday, October 14
Historic Hancock's Resolution Fall Harvest Festival and Dinner
Ever since I have learned of Hancock's Resolution, I have realized it is one of Anne Arundel County's hidden gems. Considered an Anne Arundel community park, it is located a few miles off of Fort Smallwood Road, not far from Fort Smallwood Park. The stone house on the property dates from 1785.
Every event my family and I have ever attended at Hancock's Resolution has been fun, informative, well done and very kid-friendly. And because it is a historic site, many of the games and activities are unique ones from yesteryear. This year kids will enjoy making scarecrows and bobbing for apples. Cost is $10 a family. My family and I look forward to attending this wonderful fall event!
Saturday, October 20
Arnold Christian Academy Fall Bazaar and Family Festival
Arnold Christian Academy always puts on excellent events, and this fall they have an impressive list of a vendors and a myriad of activities ranging from scavenger hunts to potting plants. In case of inclement weather, all events will be inside, making this an event we can plan to attend without needing to check the weather forecast!
Saturday, October 20
What better combination there is than a family day together and supporting a great cause? This is the case at this fall festival! There will be music, pony rides, hayrides, inflatables, photo booth, raffles, pumpkin chunkin', pie walk, food, drinks, games and lots of free candy. The cost is $5 per person; children 2 and under are free. You will receive 1 bag, 1 wristband, and 1 pony ride ticket, and access to the games. Funds support The Samaritan Women Anti-Human Tracking charity.
