The Flying Tooth

A Note From Katy

By Katy Agro Myers, Publisher, Macaroni Kid Pasadena-Severna Park November 2, 2020

Avery has had four teeth loose for weeks.  Maybe even months!  We've been hearing about them for-EVA!  We've tried wiggling, tying a string on them to pull it, he got hit by a soccer ball-nothing worked.  We've fed him caramel apples, plain apples, hard pretzels, steak, frozen Uncrustables, taffy, you name it.  Nothing worked!

Today during our lunch break, we ran to pick up our groceries and he was munching on a frozen Uncrustable. (Whyyyyyyy do my kids insist on eating these frozen?) He started complaining that the tooth was bleeding and when we got to the grocery store, he jumped out of the car and was trying to get the blood out of his mouth.  Being the smarty pants that he is, Avery had brought along his own bag in case he lost his tooth.  He finally wiggled that tooth out and put it promptly in the bag and back in the car on the console.  Lucas opened his car door to get back in and a HUGE gust of wind blew   and picked up that tooth  in the bag and whipped it out of the car!  It flew across the parking lot. Across the street, and down the entire shopping center!

Off Lucas went to grab the tooth and he was chasing and chasing while I was trying to get the twins back in the car and the doors closed before anything else blew away!  Avery was screaming that his tooth was missing and holy moly it was crazy!  Lucas finally got the tooth and came running back to us.   He was the hero of the day!

All I could think was, "oh no, this is going to be a disaster!" We were already on the struggle bus this morning after Halloween and Daylight Savings.  I thought this was just going to be another thorn in the side of our day.  But it wasn't.  We all managed to get back into the car and then we all cracked up laughing.

Kids are resilient.  They can get through anything as long as we support them.  This turned into a super fun memory that I'm sure we will never forget!

Look out for flying teeth!

xoxo,

Katy
